Sept. 20, 2003
The 20th-ranked Boston College women's soccer team (7-0-0) will take on the also-undefeated Villanova Wildcats (7-0-0) on Sunday at Newton Campus Field. The match will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Last Time Out ...
Boston College is coming off a 10-1 drubbing of in-state rival Holy Cross. Senior forward Beth Totman added to her conference leading goals total (10), scoring two as the Eagles got their seventh straight win.
Villanova also notched their seventh win in a row, and their fifth shutout, topping Providence by a score of 2-0.
The Game
The Eagles will likely be facing their toughest test of the season to date, as Villanova has recorded five of their seven wins via the shutout. Goalkeeper Chrissy Dolan has lived up to her billing as the BIG EAST Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year, as the Wildcats have allowed just three goals on the season.
The matchup should be an intense one. Coming into this week, Boston College led the BIG EAST in every significant offensive category, including goals, assists, points and shots. On the other hand, Villanova is the conference leader on the defensive side, topping the BIG EAST in fewest goals allowed, shutouts and goals against average.
The match will be played at Boston College's Newton Campus Field at 1:00 p.m. The day will feature a soccer doubleheader as the BC men's team will take on Georgetown following the conclusion of the women's game.
