Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The 20th-ranked Boston College women's soccer team defeated Quinnipiac by a score of 4-0 today on Newton Campus Field. With the win, BC improves their record to 5-0, while Quinnipiac falls to 0-5.
Boston College jumped out early, with freshman Heather Ferron and senior Lauren Vanni setting up senior forward Beth Totman, who beat Bobcat goalkeeper Heather Zaccone to put the Eagles on top, 1-0 just over six minutes into the match. At 18:58, it was Totman scoring again as she took a feed from classmate Sarah Rahko and gave BC the two-goal cushion. Just over thirty minutes in, Rahko added an unassisted goal. BC got one more goal at 41:45 when junior Kristin Goddard collected a loose ball and found the back of the net to give the Eagles the 4-0 lead. Quinnipiac tightened its defense in the second half, but could not rally their offense and the Eagles maintained the shutout.
Boston College goalkeeper Kate Taylor did not have to make a save in the match, while Zaccones posted 10 stops. BC outshot Quinnipiac 25-1 and earned eight corner kicks to none for the Bobcats.
The Eagles will be back in action at home on Sunday when the Fairfield Stags visit Newton Campus Field. That game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
