Providence, R.I. -- Senior midfielder Sarah Rahko (Londonderry, N.H.) was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST squad, the league announced Thursday. Rahko is a two-time All-BIG EAST first team selection and was named the 2001 BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year.
Boston College, who received one first-place vote, was chosen to finish second in the Northeast Division of the 2003 BIG EAST Preseason Poll, as picked by the coaches. Connecticut was chosen to win the division, collecting 13 of 14 first-place votes. For the third consecutive season, Notre Dame was chosen as the favorite to win the Mid-Atlantic Division regular season title.
Head Coach Alison Foley returns seven starters from last year's 11-8-1 team. The Eagles compiled a 4-2 conference record last year, finishing in third place. Boston College begins regular season play August 29 with a 4:00 p.m. home game against Wagner. The game will be played at Newton Campus Soccer Field.
