CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's ice hockey sophomore Sarah Carlson received the American Women's Hockey Coaches Association Scholar All America Award, as announced by the organization earlier this week. The award, in its first year sponsored by the AWHCA, is given for outstanding academic achievement while participating in college hockey.
Carlson played in each of the Eagles' 32 contests this year. The Kenny Lake, Alaska native registered three assists and provided a consistent presence on the blue line. She met the AWHCA criteria for a Scholar All America recipient, which requires being in good standing with the team and the institution, achieving at least a 3.5 GPA over two semesters, and dressing for at least 75% of her team's games. The defenseman is currently enrolled in the Connell School of Nursing as a nursing major.
