Five Track And Field Athletes Win Events At Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Five members of the men's and women's track and field teams finished first in their respective events Sunday, April 27 at the Brown Spring Invitational, the teams' final tune-up before this weekend's BIG EAST Championships.
On the heels of their school-record-setting performances in the pole vault at the Penn Relays, sophomores Megan Mara (Avon, Conn.) and Saki Sugano (Bellevue, Wash.) finished first and second, respectively, both clearing 11-7 ?.
Junior Katina McCrory (Washington, D.C.) won the 200 in 25.29 while freshman Lora Mead (Chelmsford, Mass.) took first in the 3,000 steeplechase, clocking an 11:48.25.
For the men, junior Keith Normant (Needham, Mass.) ran away with the 400 hurdles, finishing in 55.96, almost 2.5 seconds faster than the runner-up. Freshman Joe Lesniak (Toms River, N.J.) breezed to victory in the 3,000 steeplechase, winning in a time of 9:50.72.
The BIG EAST Championships will be held May 2-4 in Storrs, Conn.
