Student-Athletes Take Home Leadership Awards

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College's Office of the Dean for Student Development recently honored several student leaders for their efforts throughout the season. Among the honored students were a handful of BC student-athletes. The following student-athletes earned awards from Student Development:
The Nicholas H. Woods Leadership Award, given to the freshman who most noticeably demonstrates initiative, motivation, and potential for continued student leadership within the University, was presented to Jim Unis (Class of 2006, football).
The Junior Leadership Award, given to the junior whose leadership, involvement, and commitment has made a difference to the University community, was presented to Ben Eaves (Class of 2004, men's ice hockey).
The Senior Leadership Award, give to the senior whose leadership, involvement, and commitment has made a difference to the University community, was presented to Gabe Verdaguer (Class of 2003, track and field).
The Jeff Keith Award, presented to the graduating senior who has overcome a physical challenge to excel in academic and co-curricular activities, was presented to Matt Elfeldt (Class of 2003, baseball).
The Brian D.A. Hall Leadership Award, presented to the individuals who have both - by example and by active role in the organizational life - most effectively exercised leadership responsibilities, was presented to Christy Zider (Class of 2003, field hockey).
The St. Ignatius Award for Student Involvement, presented to the individuals who most exemplify the imperative to "Seek God in All Things" and who have demonstrated an understanding and non-judgmental attitude, was presented to Lauren Schwer (Class of 2003, volleyball).
