Vanni, Taylor Lead Women's Soccer to Beanpot Title

BROOKLINE, Mass. - The Boston College women's soccer team won the Beanpot tournament, held Sunday at Northeastern's Parsons Field. The Eagles defeated Harvard and Northeastern, both by scores of 1-0, while tying Boston University, 0-0. The games consisted of two 25-minute halves.
In the day's first match, BC and BU played to a 0-0 scoreless tie. Freshman Kate Taylor recorded the shutout for the Eagles.
Junior Lauren Vanni scored the gamewinner as the Eagles defeated Harvard, 1-0, in BC's second match of the afternoon. Vanni's second-half tally was assisted by sophomore Laina Ceddia. Taylor recorded her second shutout of the day in the victory.
In the Eagles' third game of the tournament, freshman Kelly Lavery broke a scoreless tie as BC went on to defeat Northeastern, 1-0, to secure the tournament title. Vanni assisted on Lavery's gamewinner, while freshman Jess Briody and Taylor split for the shutout.
