Cambridge, Mass. - The Boston College Fencing teams competed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in four dual matches each Sunday. The men's team posted three wins against one loss (11-7), while the women's team suffered its first losing weekend of the season with a one and three mark (13-7).
Both squads suffered an opening match loss to NYU, before rebounding with a victory each, over split squads from Yeshiva (men) and Cornell (women). The men's team continued its winning ways with victories over the University of North Carolina and then completing a tobacco road sweep with a win over Duke. The women proved a mirror image to the men dropping their final two matches to the Tar Heels and Blue Devils, respectively.
The men's foil squad continued its dominance over opponents not a set in their four matches. Junior foilist Paul Taylor finished with a 10-2 mark in four matches and freshman foilist Brian Sohn earned a 7-2 mark in three matches. In women's epee sophomore Tiffany White (9-3) and senior Kate Boyle (8-4) led the way for the Eagles, and senior foilist Elizabeth Lennox also recorded an 8-4 tally.
The Fencing team will be in action next on Saturday Feb. 8, in Medford, Mass. at Tufts University, start time is 8:30 a.m.
