CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. - Boston College women's basketball head coach Cathy Inglese is among 25 finalists for the Naismith Women's College Basketball Coach of the Year Award, the Atlanta Tipoff Club has announced.
Inglese is one of four coaches from the BIG EAST Conference to be named a finalist for the award, joining Connecticut's Geno Auriemma, Rutgers' C. Vivian Stringer, and Villanova's Harry Perretta.
This is the fourth time Inglese has been named a finalist for the award in her 17 seasons as a head coach. Her three previous considerations came during her seven-year tenure at Vermont (1991, 1992, and 1993).
Currently in her tenth season at Boston College, Inglese is 167-120 (.582). In 17 seasons as at head coach, she is 287-194 (.597).
The winners of the award will be honored in Atlanta at the Georgia World Congress Center on April 11 as part of the Final Four festivities.
With their current 10-4 conference mark, the No. 22 Eagles (18-7) are guaranteed a first-round bye in the upcoming BIG EAST Championship, to be held at the Louis Brown Athletic Center on the campus of Rutgers University.
