AMHERST, Mass. - The Boston College men's swimming and diving team concluded the 2002-03 regular season this weekend with a 183-117 loss to the University of Massachusetts. The Eagles take an 8-7 dual meet record into the BIG EAST and ECAC Championship meets.
The Eagles performed well in the freestyle events, winning all the individual events in that stroke. Tim Tully earned the Eagles their initial first-place finish in the 1000-yard event, while David Herman and team captain Matthew Baker each won two. Herman touched first in the 200- and 500-yard events, while Baker captured the 50- and 100-yard titles.
Boston College received first place points in two other events, placing Brandon Twichell atop the competition in the 200-yard breaststroke and Andy Naumann in the 200-yard individual medley.
The loss marks the first time BC has fallen to a dual meet opponent since Nov. 22, and breaks a seven meet win streak that has spanned the second semester. The Eagles will prepare for the BIG EAST and ECAC Championship races which will be held at the end of the month.
