Providence, R.I. - Boston College junior guard Jessalyn Deveny (Westford, Mass.) was named BIG EAST Co-Player of the Week Monday morning after her solid effort over the last week. The honor is her first selection of the season. It also marks the first week that an Eagle player has been honored by the conference office.
In a 3-0 week, Deveny averaged 18.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists as she led her team to the championship of the Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational. For her efforts over two games, she was named the Tournament MVP.
Deveny netted 23 points in her team's 21-point victory over Alabama and 20 points in BC's win over host school Colorado State. She also pulled down seven rebounds in each contest. Prior to that, she scored 11 points in BC's win over Siena earlier in the week. Over the course of three games, Deveny shot a sizzling 66.7 percent (22-for-33) from the field and turned the ball over just once.
Deveny is the team's leading scorer with 18.3 points per game. She has scored in double digits in all four of BC's games this year.
The Eagles (4-0) host Holy Cross Wednesday night. They then travel to Providence, R.I. this weekend to participate in the Brown Classic. They will face Liberty in the first round and either Brown or New Hampshire on the second day.
