No. 17 Field Hockey Shuts Out Radford, 6-0

Charlottesville, Va. - The 17th-ranked Boston College field hockey team rebounded from a loss to Virginia with an impressive 6-0 shutout win over Radford at University of Virginia's Turf Field Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Eagles close out the regular season with a 17-6 overall mark. With a 4-1 conference mark, BC claims a share of the BIG EAST regular season championship and will be the No. 3 seed heading into this weekend's tournament.
BC used a pair of goals in the opening four minutes of the game to take a 2-0 lead and did not look back. Bronwen Kelly (Mississauga, Ontario) notched the first of her two goals 1:32 into the game to give the Eagles all the scoring they would need as she punched in a rebound off a corner shot.
The Eagles added four more goals before the intermission, taking a commanding 5-0 lead into the break. Kellly netted both of her scores in the first 35 minutes of play. Five different players broke into the scoring column, including freshman Allison Early (Milton, Mass.) who collected her first career goal.
BC will next host the BIG EAST Championship November 7 and 9 at Alumni Stadium. As the No. 3 seed, BC will play No. 2 Villanova at 8 p.m. Friday night. No. 1 Connecticut will face No. 4 Rutgers at 6 p.m. The BIG EAST Championship will be decided at 2 p.m. Sunday.
