Eagles Fly Over University Of Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Eagles headed to Louisville, Ky. for the second meet of the season (and the weekend). They captured a big win 153-103 down at Louisville.
The Eagles started the meet off right against the University of Louisville with Juliet Paradine, Carolyn Bowman, Torey Thelin, and Liz Byron leading the way to win the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:50.55. They were followed closely by the Boston College's B relay of Heather Page , Michelle Lane, Lauren Keibler, and Megan Hurd who placed third.
Kimberly Garcia and Leigh Going both swam well in the distance event, 1000 Freestyle, placing second and third. Sophomore Holly Boucher and senior captain Caitlin Healey touched less than a second apart in 2:00.11 and 2:00.68 to pick up points in second and third places. Juliet Paradine dominated the field during the 100 Backstroke winning the event by three seconds in a time of 1:00.09. Teammates Heather Page and Kari Sveum touched the wall fourth and fifth, respectively. Bowman finished second in the 100 Breaststroke swimming a fast 1:07.09. Nikoll Julien followed right behind diving for the wall to touch in 1:10.31 for a fourth-place finish. The Boston College flyers captain Lauren Keibler, Katie Barry, and Thelin earned points in the 200 Fly stretching to finish 2-4-5. Byron easily won the 50 Freestyle sprint (24.67) while teammates Boucher and Hurd sprinted to earn third and fourth places. The Eagles at the half-way mark had a slight lead at 67-60.
After the break Liz Byron continued her reign as freestyle sprint queen winning the 100 freestyle by nearly two seconds for a 53.47 finish. Boucher and Hurd swam well again in the sprints picking up points in third and fourth places. Paradine swam a fast 200 Backstroke to win her second event for the day in 2:09.26. Lane and Julien both had strong races in the 200 Breaststroke hitting the touch pad in second and fourth places.
The 500 Freestyle was yet another good event for the Eagles with a 2-3-5 finish from Garcia, Going and Healey. Byron led the pack in the 100 Butterfly touching in at 58.65 for a first- place finish. Thelin and Keibler picked up third- and fourth-place finishes for the Eagles.
Bowman had another outstanding swim in the 200 Individual Medley taking first place in 2:09.85. The Boston College Relays swept the 400 Freestyle relays placing 1-2-3. The A relay of Boucher, Hurd, Thelin and Healey led for a first place finish with a 3:40.18, followed closely by the B relay of Katherine Saylor, Paradine, Garcia and Going. Third place went to the quartet, Page, Lane, Sveum and Barry.
Juliet Paradine was named Outstanding Performer and Liz Byron's 100-yard freestyle was distinguished as the team's outstanding performance.
