CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's soccer team won its third straight game defeating BIG EAST opponent Miami behind three first half goals, two scored by sophomore Katie McGregor (Simsbury, Conn.).
The Eagles improve to 12-2-2 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play. Miami falls to 9-7-1 and 3-2-0 in BIG EAST action.
Boston College jumped out of gates quickly tallying its' first goal just four minutes into the game. McGregor knocked home a rebound from a head ball that bounced off the cross bar taken by fellow classmate Lindsey McArdle (Boxford, Mass.). Freshman Molly Dane (Acton, Mass.) also assisted on the goal. Dane served the ball into the box and McArdle headed the ball past Miami goalkeeper Alex Alford off the cross bar and McGregor blasted the rebound past the Hurricane goalie.
The Eagles wasted little time as they scored the game's second goal just over nine minutes later. Senior Beth Totman (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) collected a nice pass from McArdle in the box and beat Miami's goalie far side. The score was the 11 on the year for Totman.
McGregor lit-up the scoreboard again at the 23 minute-mark as she was on the receiving end of some nice touch passing from freshman Heather Ferron (Brookfield, Wis.) and Beth Totman. Ferron fed Totman who lead McGregor for her second goal of the match and 12th goal of the season.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kate Taylor (Menomonee Fall, Wis.) recorded her sixth shutout making three saves while facing eight shots for the Eagles.
