Men's Cross Country Places Third At New England Championships

Boston, Mass. - The Boston College men's cross country team had a very strong race at Friday's New England Championships at Franklin Park, finishing third in the field of 47 teams. In the 255-man field, the Eagles placed two runners in the top ten, all five of their scorers finished in the top 50 and all seven BC runners placed in the top 75.
Junior Byron Gartrell led the Eagles with a fifth-place finish and a time of 24:31. Classmate Drew Bouchard finished tenth with a time of 24:43. Trevor Rozier-Byrd finished 32nd overall, posting a time of 25:27. A pair of freshmen rounded out the scorers for the Eagles: Stephen Walsh finished 38th with a time of 25:31 and classmate Mark Alizzi was close behind, placing 42nd with a time of 25:36.
The Eagles will return to action next Saturday when they travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa for the NCAA Pre-National Meet.
