CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- In a combined dual meet against the University of Maine and Georgetown University on Saturday afternoon at the Flynn Recreation Complex, the Boston College women's swimming and diving team proved to be the best of the three squads, with dominating wins over both competitors.
The Eagles took first and second in the 400 medley relay to take a lead they would never relinquish. Caitlin Leahy turned her third impressive performance in the 1000 freestyle event in the last eight days. Caitlin Klick and Karen Tellekamp touched first and second in the 200-freestyle, then Holly Boucher added a win in the 50. Katie McCann earned the victory in the 200-IM to increase the BC lead.
As the Boston College lead continued to grow, Georgetown and Maine were battling in a close meet. BC divers Katelyn Cox and Jennifer Rhines dominated the boards, followed by an Eagle sweep in the 200-butterfly. Nina Suryoutomo, Nikoll Julien and the 400-free relay team also earned Boston College victories.
Boston College finished with a final score of 188-54 over Georgetown and 183-59 over Maine.
The Eagles' strong showing was catalyzed by impressive performances from the entire squad, and will help to prepare them for two tough meets this weekend. Boston College will swim against Northeastern and the University of New Hampshire on Jan. 31 and Feb. 2.
