Fencing Shows Well At Home

Both Eagles teams defeated Brandeis by only one bout in the best of 27 scoring for 14-13 victories. Sophomore Tiffany White and senior Elizabeth Lennox each finished 3-0 against Brandeis in their respective disciplines of epee and foil for the women. Senior Allison Maher fenced her way to a 3-0 mark against Brown to help the Eagles to another 14-13 victory. On the men's side the Eagles were paced by outstanding performances from the entire foil squad who finished the day 32-13 as a group, highlighted by a 9-0 showing against Brown. Individually, junior foilist Paul Taylor finished 11-4 and freshman Brian Sohn weighed in with an 11-1 tally. In epee senior Dave Moyston won 10 bouts against only 5 losses to aid the Eagles in their winning effort.
Boston College Head Coach Sydney Fadner expressed her appreciation for the hard work her team has put in, "The men's foil squad looks great. They are very strong. We got good wins on both sides over Brandeis and two nerve-wracking wins on the final bout over Brown (by the men and women). On the women's side it was a pretty good all around team effort, everyone contributed." The Eagles will be in action next Sunday Feb. 2, at MIT against five other teams, match time is 8:30 a.m.
