CHARLEMONT, Mass. - The Boston College ski teams opened up their season competing in the UMass Winter Carnival at the Berkshire East Ski Resort this past weekend. Both men's and women's teams finished second in the slalom and third in the giant slalom. The men's team added five top 15 finishers in the slalom and five top 20 finishers in the giant slalom.
On the women's side, junior Erica Pylman (Old Forge City, N.Y.) had the best day of all, coming in third in the slalom, finishing at 1:41.11, and tenth in the giant slalom. Ahead of her in the giant slalom was senior Lori Williams (Stratton, Vt.), who placed seventh. Also turning in a solid performance for the Eagles was junior Jennifer Runco (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), who placed seventh in the slalom and 11th in the giant slalom.
For the men it was junior Seth Therrien (Yakima, Wash.) who placed third in the giant slalom with a time of 1:33.11 and 4th in the slalom. David Giulietti and Michael Duran also turned in top 15 performances in both events.
Both Boston College squads will compete in the Plymouth State College Carnival January 25-26, at Waterville Valley, N.H.
