
Spolidoro, Kramer Dominate Distance Events At Yale Invitational

NEW HAVEN. Conn. - Senior Julie Spolidoro (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) and junior Jennifer Kramer (Loudonville, N.Y./Colonie Central) ran away with the 3,000-meter and one-mile runs, respectively, and the women's 4x800 relay team also picked up a victory Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Yale Invitational. Three members of the men's team came up with third-place performances.
Spolidoro's win came in 9:38.45, placing her fifth on the school's all-time list. She finished almost 25 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
Kramer cruised to victory in 5:05.25, nearly 20 seconds ahead of her next closest competitor.
The 4x800 relay team crossed the finish line in 9:24.56, edging Yale's "B" team by .69 seconds.
Also coming up with a strong showing was senior Jennifer Vendetti (Franklin, Mass./Franklin), who took runner-up in the 400 with a time of 1:00.64. After setting a new school record in the indoor shot put her last time out, freshman Jessica Fazekas (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) recorded a mark of 42-4 ?, good for third place.
On the men's side, sophomore Geoff Atkins (Avon, Conn./Avon) came in third in the 400, clocking a 50.42. Senior Shawn Wallace (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield) also placed third in the mile, touring the oval in 4:22.12, while freshman Percy Addo-Yobo (Tarrytown, N.Y./Iona Prep) posted a mark of 44-5 ? in the triple jump, putting him third.
The women are back in action Friday, Jan. 17 in a quad-meet with Boston University, Sacred Heart and UMass-Amherst while the men will participate in the BU Terrier Cup on Saturday, Jan. 18.
