CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's soccer team is ranked No. 22 in the nation, according to the latest NSCAA/adidas poll released today. The poll is the official ranking system for NCAA soccer. This is the Eagles' first appearance in the poll during the 2002 season.
The team is also ranked No. 21 in the latest Soccer Buzz national poll. In addition, Soccer Buzz ranked Boston College No. 2 in the Northeast in their weekly regional poll.
The announcement comes after a weekend in which the Eagles played to a tie with then No. 6 Penn State, 2-2, at Newton Campus Field. The team went on to shutout Central Connecticut, 3-0, at Ohiri Field on the campus of Harvard University. Both games were part of the Harvard Invitational, in which Boston College earned a share of the tournament title.
The Eagles have a busy upcoming weekend as they travel to Coral Gables, Fl., to square off with the Miami Hurricanes on Friday, Sept. 20. The team will make the trip back north to Storrs, Conn., on Sunday, Sept. 22, for a matchup with No. 13 Connecticut.
