Women's Soccer Prepares for No. 6 Penn State

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's soccer team (3-1-0) is in the midst of preparations for Friday's match against the No. 6 team in the nation, Penn State (2-1-0). The game, which is the opening round of the Harvard University Invitational, will be played at the Newton Campus Soccer Field. Kick-off is slated for 3 p.m.
Boston College is coming off of a 2-1 victory over Iowa in which veterans Sarah Rahko and Katherine Halloran scored the two Eagle goals.
Sophomore Laina Ceddia is the Eagles' leading scorer with eight points - three goals and two assists - in four games.
Penn State is coming off of a trip out west, where it went 1-1 in the UCLA Women's Cup. The then No. 12 Nittany Lions were defeated by Southern California, 1-0, but rebounded to beat then No. 2 UCLA, 1-0, in double overtime.
Boston College owns a 3-0-0 record at home this season. They are undefeated at Newton Campus Soccer Field in their past five matches, dating back to Oct. 31, 2002.
In other news, the Eagles were ranked No. 3 in the Soccer Buzz Northeast Regional Poll. The team was previously ranked No. 4
The Eagles play Central Connecticut State University on Sunday, Sept. 15 in the second round of the Harvard Invitational. The game, which is at Harvard, is scheduled for 11 a.m.
