CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College freshman Bronwen Kelly (Mississauga, Ontario) was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week Monday after her solid effort in the Eagles' 2-0 week. She is the second Eagle in as many weeks to be honored by the conference office.
Kelly helped the Eagles to a 2-0 record this past week, securing wins over Massachusetts (3-1) and Quinnipiac (3-0). She collected a goal and assist for three points and aided the Eagle defense in its second shutout victory of the year.
In the first STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll of the season released Tuesday, Boston College is ranked 14th in the country. The Eagles host cross-town rival Boston University Wednesday night in a 7 p.m. game in Alumni Stadium. They will then travel to Ann Arbor Michigan for the BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge. Saturday, BC will face #3 Michigan. Sunday, BC will take on Northwestern.
