Paula Wagoner Named Assistant Field Hockey Coach

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - Paula Wagoner, who has served as assistant field hockey coach at Kent State University for the last three years, has been named assistant field hockey coach at Boston College, according to an announcement made by Boston College head field hockey coach Sherren Granese.
Wagoner will fill the coaching vacancy created when Stacey Bean left Boston College to assume the head coaching duties at University of Rhode Island.
Wagoner was the Golden Flash assistant from 1999-2002 where she coordinated the team's recruitment of prospective student-athletes, organized team travel, monitored the academic progress of team members, designed goalkeeping practices, and assisted in all areas of positional player practices.
During Wagoner's time at Kent State, the Golden Flashes won the Mid American Conference Championship twice and made an appearance in three consecutive NCAA Tournaments. While in Kent, OH, she twice served as interim head coach (11/1/00-2/1/01 and 3/20/02-5/10/02). In her final season, she spearheaded the planning and organizing of the 2001 NCAA Championship, hosted by Kent State.
Prior to her post at Kent State, Wagoner served as the assistant coach at Georgetown University (1998-99). During her time at the BIG EAST school, she assumed similar responsibilities to those she performed at Kent State.
Wagoner is very active within the United States Field Hockey Association, having served as a head coach in the Futures Development Program (1999-present) and a Super Camp Instructor (1999-2002). In addition, she is a member of several camp coaching staffs throughout the country.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, Wagoner was a cum laude graduate of Providence College in 1998 with a degree in elementary and special education. During her undergraduate years, Wagoner was a very successful field hockey player. A three-time All-BIG EAST selection and the 1997 BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, Wagoner compiled 66 career points (15 goals, 36 assists).
