CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Katie Pastorius (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View) became the ninth recruit for Boston College head coach Alison Foley's 2002 squad. Pastorius will add a great deal to the Eagles' midfield and defense.
While playing at Mounds View High School, she recorded 17 goals and 11 assists. From a scoring standpoint, her most successful season came in 2000 when she tallied 11 goals and dished out two assists while playing forward. Her numbers dipped in 2001, but this was in part to moving from the forward position to sweeper. Following her junior and senior years, Pastorius was recognized as the team's offensive most valuable player (2000) and defensive MVP (2001).
Pastorius was named honorable mention all-state in Minnesota following her senior season. Other accomplishments for her include being named Suburban East All-Conference in 2000 and 2001. In 2001, she helped lead Mounds View to a sectional championship and a trip to the Minnesota State tournament. Her club team, the St. Paul Blackhawks, went undefeated and were crowned league champions in 2001.
Outside of soccer, Pastorius has been a member of the varsity track and field team for three years, and for her senior year she was named captain. She participates in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles and the long jump.
Pastorius academic achievements include being a member of the National Honor Society as being chosen a KARE 11-News Academic All-Star. Her extra-curricular activities include being co-editor and chief of her high school newspaper, a peer helper, a D.A.R.E. role model and a peer minister.
