Boston College assistant skiing coach Gordie Megroz earned his Regional Coaches Certification after participating in the U.S. Ski Team National Coaches Academy. The academy was held at Mount Bachelor in Bend, Oregon earlier this month.
Megroz, who just completed his second season as the Eagles' assistant coach, gained the certification after completing a rigorous 12-day coaches development and training program that was conducted by the U.S. Ski Team staff. Of the 40 coaches that participated, 30 earned the certification.
The Regional Coaches Certification is the third level of a five-level program. The only remaining steps for Megroz are National Certification and International Certification.
Megroz is a 1998 Boston College graduate, where he excelled on the ski team.
