Men's Track Impresses In Solomon Invitational

Boston College's men's track team participated in the Solomon Invitational at the Solomon Track in Dedham, Mass. on Saturday and several athletes turned in good performances.
Junior Vernon Mickle won the 800 meter run, finishing in a time of 1:52.70. Senior teammate Mike McKenzie finished two places behind, capturing the third-place prize with a time of 1:54.53.
Freshman Trevor Rozier-Byrd gained an impressive second-place showing in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. The freshman finished with a time of 9:32.01.
Senior Tony Bierne was a top performer for the Eagles, finishing third in the shot put (45' 03.75) and 10th in the hammer throw (156 '06).
Among BC's other impressive performers were freshman Geoff Atkins (sixth in 200, 22.54), senior Steve Lester (sixth in 5,000 meter run, 15:27.25), freshman Joe Makley (seventh in pole vault, 12 '06), and sophomore Keith Normant (seventh in triple jump, 41' 05.75).
