This week definitely had its ups and downs. Our Hofstra game did not go as well as planned, but we were able to finish the week on a strong note with a decisive 16-9 win against Duquesne. It's nice to be a part of a team that is able to walk away from a loss, move on, and turn things around the next time.
The Hofstra game was extremely disappointing. We had hopes of upsetting them with our composure and consistent play. Unfortunately, their aggressive defense and well-executed attack got the best of us. We knew what to expect going into the game-a physical and strong team that fights hard for every ball. We thought it was a good match up for us, as we also like to think of ourselves as a scrappy and hard working team. Wednesday just wasn't our day though. Hofstra outplayed us, outworked us, and ultimately deserved the win.
Saturday, against Duquesne, was an entirely different story. We played aggressive defense, swiftly moved the ball down the field, and connected and finished on offense. Everyone got involved and stepped up. We played with intensity and energy and, most importantly, as a team. We knew what we had to do to win and we accepted nothing less.
Hopefully, this week was a sign for things to come. We have a lot of tough games coming up, but if we continue to learn from our mistakes and step up to the challenges ahead, there is unlimited possibilities for this team. We have shown our talent, now it is just a matter of pulling it together come game time.
