CHESTNUT HILL, MA -- The Boston College men's tennis team edged out BIG EAST foe Rutgers, 4-3, Saturday morning in a game played at the Flynn Recreation Complex Courts on the campus of Boston College. With the win, the Eagles are riding an eight-game win streak and are 12-7 overall. By beating Rutgers, they finished the BIG EAST regular season with a perfect 6-0 record.
BC lost all three doubles matches, giving up the doubles point to start the match. The Eagles, however, roared back to win four of the six singles matches to hand Rutgers its first conference loss (6-7/4-1) and snap the Scarlet Knights' four-game win streak. Justin Slattery (Andover, MA) and Brad Anderson (Edina, MN) led the way for BC with a one-two punch at first and second singles.
Boston College will close out the regular season with a home game against Rhode Island on Tuesday, April 16 at 3 pm. They will be one of six teams to participate in the 2002 BIG EAST Men's Tennis Championship in Miami, FL April 19-21.
