NFHCA Names Field Hockey Academic All-America Team

Glenn Allen, VA - Five different Boston College field hockey players earned a spot on the 2001 NFHCA Division I Academic All-America squad as announced recently by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). For all five players, it was the first such honor.
Representing the Eagles are Gina Dinan (Skowhegan, ME), Kim French (Shrewsbury, MA), Maria LoRusso (Norwood, MA), Lauren Schultz (New Milford, CT), and Christy Zider (Barre, VT).
French finished the season as the team's leading scorer with 12 goals and an assist for 25 points. She was named to the first team All-BIG EAST. Dinan, an All-BIG EAST second team selection, finished the season with two goals and five assists for nine points. LoRusso started all 19 games for BC while Schultz (two goals, one assist) started 17 of 19. Zider netted a goal and an assist while playing in only 11 games, missing the tail end of the season with a stress fracture.
The Eagles finished the season at 11-8 overall and 4-1 in the BIG EAST.
