Lincoln, N.H. - The Boston College women's ski team earned first and second places in the Slalom and Giant Slalom at the Brown University Carnival held at Loon Mountain.? The men's team nabbed second and fourth places respectively.?
The women's squad took first place in the Slalom with the victory of senior Christina Gush, sophomores Jennifer Runco and Erica Pylman added sixth and sixteenth place finishes, respectively.? The trio of Gush, Runco, and Pylman were at it in the Giant Slalom as well with fourth, tenth, and seventh place finishes that were good enough for the runner up spot in that event.? The Eagles had captured first in all five events before Sunday's Giant Slalom.
The men's ski team notched second place in the Slalom with a podium finish from sophomore Seth Therrien, and seniors Michael Duran and Hans Gustafson recorded fourth and eighteenth places.? Junior Adam Wexler finished the race in the top 25 leading the second group of a split squad race.? In the Giant Slalom it was more of the same for the Eagles.? Duran and Therrien led the way at sixth and ninth, respectively.? Junior Barry Connolly finished eighteenth and sophomore David Giulietti rounded out the Eagles in the top 25 with a twenty-third place mark.
The women retain their top ranking in the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference and the men hold at fourth going into next weekend's BC Carnival at Mt. Ascutney.? Individually for the women, Gush and junior Lori Williams, who did not race this weekend, are tied for second in the ECSC with Pylman at ninth, and Runco tied for tenth.? On the men's side, Therrien leads the Eagles with a third place ranking followed by Duran in thirteenth, and Connolly in seventeenth.
