Conway, Byars Earn Academic All-District Honors

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - While the Boston College women's basketball is enjoying one of its best season's in school history on the court, it is now having a strong season academically. Seniors Nicole Conway (Glenmont, N.Y.) and Rachel Byars (Morganfield, Ky.) were named to the Verizon Academic All-District I first- and second-teams, respectively.
Conway, an elementary education major in the School of Education, carries a 3.524 grade point average. She ranks fourth on the team in scoring (10.2 ppg.), second in rebounds (5.6 rpg.) and third in assists (75). Conway's season high in points came against Georgetown, where he recorded 20 points and also had seven steals.
Byars, who graduated from the Carroll School of Management with a degree in business administration in 2001 and now is working on her Masters in Business Administration, carries a 3.4 GPA. She is averaging 6.4 points per game and a team-leading 6.1 rebounds per contest. She grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds back on February 12 against West Virginia.
Conway, Byars and the rest of the Eagles' basketball team are back in action at 2 p.m. Saturday against St. John's in a BIG EAST match-up.
