Skiing Has Strong Showing At BC Winter Carnival

Brownsville, Vt. - The Boston College women's ski team earned first place in both Slalom and the Giant Slalom at the Boston College Winter Carnival held at Ascutney Mt. The men's team nabbed fourth place in both events.
The women's squad took first place in the Slalom with the victory of senior Christina Gush. Sophomore Jennifer Runco and junior Lori Williams added third and fourth place finishes, respectively. Sophomore Erica Pylman, Williams and Gush had terrific showings in the Giant Slalom as well with Pylman taking first place, Williams coming in second, and Gush finishing in fifth place.
The men's ski team notched a fourth place finish in the Slalom with a podium finish from sophomore Seth Therrien (third place), and a ninth place finish from sophomore David Giulietti. In the Giant Slalom it was more of the same for the Eagles, with the team finishing in fourth place again. Duran finished in sixth place, the best Eagle finisher, and Giulietti and junior Barry Connolly finished in fourteenth and fifteenth places, respectively.
The women retain their top ranking in the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference and the men hold at fourth going into next weekend's Smith College Carnival at Berkshire East.
