Men's Swimming Defeats Georgetown In Regular-Season Finale

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Boston College men's swimming and diving team closed out the regular season portion of its 2001-02 schedule by defeating BIG EAST rival Georgetown University, 124-118, at McCarthy Pool. With the win, the Eagles finished the regular season with an 8-7 overall record.
Freshman Brandon Twichell (Fayetteville, N.Y.) was the only Boston College swimmer to earn two first-place results. He was victorious in the 200-yard individual medley and the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing with times of 1:58.95 and 2:08.27.
Freshman Robert Keely (Staten Island, N.Y.) had a strong afternoon for the Eagles, as he won the 200-yard freestyle, turning in a time of 1:45.50. He also joined freshmen David Herman (San Anselmo, Calif.), Michael Dellamano (Los Altos, Calif.) and junior Matthew Baker (Lakewood, Wash.) in winning the final event of the afternoon - the 400-yard freestyle relay, turning in a time of 3:14.07.
Baker and Dellamano also picked up individual wins on Saturday afternoon. Baker was victorious in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing with a time 22.06. Dellamano took home top honors in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 1:59.99.
The Boston College men's swimming and diving team is back in action Thursday through Saturday, February 21-23, at the BIG EAST Championships in Uniondale, N.J.
