WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Women's hockey player Kristin Blundo was named ITECH Rookie of the Week as announced by the Hockey East Association yesterday in Wakefield, Mass.
The freshman forward scored a goal and added three assists this week to lift Boston College over ECAC rivals Union College and Cornell University. Her goal against the Dutchwomen was the second score of her young career. The Canton, Mass. native also has five assists this year, two coming against Cornell. The hard-working forward has seven points, good for second-best among Eagle rookies (Jill McInnis, eight).
Blundo's classmate, goaltender Alison Quandt (Wayland, Mass.), also earned top billing in the conference. The rookie netminder currently leads Hockey East in goals against average, with 1.18. In four starts, she has recorded four victories, backstopping the current Boston College five-game win streak.
