Syracuse, N.Y. - Fans of the 15th-ranked Boston College field hockey team and followers of the BIG EAST Conference Field Hockey Championship will be able to watch a live WebCast of the event, as announced by University Union Television (UUTV) and the BIG EAST Conference. The 2002 Championship broadcast is being produced by i2sports through a joint venture with the Conference.
The championship, scheduled for November 8 & 10 on Coyne Field at Syracuse University in New York, will mark the second time BIG EAST field hockey has had a live webcast available, with a similar one also produced in 1999.
Using Tandem Multimedia Simulcast technology, i2sports will broadcast live coverage of every match. The i2sports group was the first in the world to produce such an event when it showcased the 2000 BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championships.
The BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship will be held at Syracuse University for the third time. Connecticut has won the most championships with five, including three of the last four titles. This year's host, Syracuse, won the championship last season. Boston College will be looking for its third title, winning both in 1994 and 1997.
The defending champion Orangewomen will face top-seeded Connecticut at 5:00 p.m. Friday with the twin bill to feature Boston College and Villanova at 7:00 p.m. The conference championship will be decided at 12 noon Sunday. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
