NFHCA Names Field Hockey Regional All-America Team

Glenn Allen, Va. - Boston College junior forward Kim French (Shrewsbury, Mass.), sophomore back Kerri Doherty (Lynnfield, Mass.) , freshman midfielder Bronwen Kelly (Mississauga, Ontario) and freshman back Kristen Madden (Concord, N.H.) earned a spot on the 2002 STX/NFHCA Division I Regional All-America team as announced today by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). Doherty and French were first team selections while Kelly and Madden were second team choices on the Northeast Region team.
The NFHCA selects two teams of 16 members each from five regions in the country. Players represent the Midatlantic Region, the Mideast Region, the Northeast Region, the South Region, and the West Region. All those players selected to the first team will be eligible for national All-America honors. The 2002 STX/NFHCA All-America team will be announced Monday, November 25.
French was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year after a season that included 12 goals and two assists for 28 points. Last season, Wulff earned a spot on the NFHCA Northeast Regional All-America second team. For Doherty, Kelly and Madden, this is the first such honor. Doherty finished the season with six assists while Kelly collected three goals and four assists for 10 points. Kelly was an All-BIG EAST first team selection while Doherty and Madden were second team choices.
The Eagles finished the season at 15-6 overall and 3-2 in the BIG EAST.
