PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomores Lauren Schultz (New Milford, Conn.) and Kerri Doherty (Lynnfield, Mass.) earned BIG EAST Co-Offensive and Defensive Field Hockey Player of the Week honors, respectively, for their performances during Boston College's 2-0 week, the league office announced today. It was the second time this season each of them received the accolade.
Schultz's goal at 91:20 of double overtime lifted the No. 18 Eagles to a 1-0 win over No. 15 Harvard last Wednesday, snapping Boston College's three-game losing streak to the Crimson. She followed that up by finding the back of the net for the fourth time this season in the Eagles' 3-1 win over Rutgers on Saturday.
Doherty spearheaded the defensive effort against Harvard as the Eagles (13-4-0, 3-2-0 BE) recorded their eighth shutout of the season. She also picked up an assist, her team-leading sixth of the season, against the Scarlet Knights.
The team is back in action Wednesday, Oct. 30, when it hosts New Hampshire at 7 p.m.
