CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Seton Hall Pirates (11-15, 2-5 BIG EAST) defeated Boston College (12-13, 2-5 BIG EAST) in a decisive fifth game to capture a 3-2 victory in Power Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon. The Pirates had a successful weekend road trip, also earning a win against Providence College in Rhode Island on Saturday.
The evenly matched teams needed five games to determine a winner. Seton Hall began the match with a 30-27 win. The Eagles fought back, taking the next two 30-25 and 30-26. The visitors, however, had the last say, winning game four by the largest margin of the match, 30-17 to force a tiebreaker. The fifth game was even till the very end, when the SHU Pirates scored two consecutive points to win 15-13.
Boston College had four players record double digits in kills. Katie Andersen and Liz Aron dug the ball well, to earn the double-double. Seton Hall's Tara Brooks and Jenna Meyers achieved the mark as well.
The Eagles have a two-match road trip next weekend, when they travel to Syracuse and Notre Dame.
