Field Hockey Loses 2-1 Game At Massachusetts

Amherst, MA - The Boston College field hockey team suffered a slim 2-1 defeat to the University of Massachusetts Wednesday night at Richard F. Garber Field in Amherst. With the loss, Boston College drops to 1-2 on the season. The Minutewomen collected their first win of the season, improving to 1-2.
Boston College struck first, taking a 1-0 lead just two minutes into the game. Senior co-captain Gina Dinan (Skowhegan, ME) scored off a pass from sophomore Lauren Schultz (New Milford, CT) with 33:20 on the clock. The score remained 1-0 until 27:39 when the Minutewomen capitalized on a penalty corner. The hosts then netted the game winner with 13:20 left in the first half.
Both teams would play a scoreless second half with goaltenders keeping the game at 2-1. Boston College goaltender Lauren Hill (Bethesda, MD) made six saves.
The Eagles return to action Sunday when they host American in a 1:00 p.m. non-conference game at Alumni Stadium.
