Boston College Wrestling Joins Colonial Athletic Association

RICHMOND, Va. - The Colonial Athletic Association will consist of 12 teams that will compete for the CAA Championships during the 2001-2002 season after a merger with the East Coast Wrestling Association. Boston College, a member of the ECWA since the 1995-1996 season, will compete during the 2001-2002 season as a member of the CAA Conference.
The 12-team conference will consist of teams from Drexel University, George Mason University, Hofstra University, James Madison University, Old Dominion University and Campbell University - all members of the CAA Conference in the past. Former ECWA teams that will be joining the Conference are Binghamton University, Boston College, Boston University, Rider University, Sacred Heart University and Wagner College.
The CAA will send twenty-seven of its wrestlers to represent the Conference at the 2002 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. The Championships will be held at Pepsi Arena in Albany, N.Y.
Boston College's first scheduled match for the 2001-2002 season is against New York University. The match is scheduled for Saturday, November 3rd, at 12 noon. Please point your browser to www.bceagles.com for updates and releases concerning the Boston College Wrestling squad.
