Providence, RI - The Boston College field hockey team shutout Providence 2-0 Wednesday afternoon at Hendricken Field on the campus of Providence College. With the victory, Boston College snapped a two-game losing skid and improved to 4-4 on the season and 1-0 in the BIG EAST. The Friars fell to 6-2 overall/0-1 BIG EAST.
Boston College scored one goal in each half, first breaking into the scoring column at 12:59 on a Roni Morgan (St. Louis, MO) rebound shot. The Eagles added an insurance goal with 1:46 remaining in the game when Kim French (Shrewsbury, MA) punched in a goal at the end of a breakaway. Lauren Hill (Bethesda, MD) collected four saves in the shutout, her second of the season.
The Eagles return to action Sunday when they host Syracuse in a 1:00 p.m. BIG EAST game at Alumni Stadium.
