Women's Lacrosse Signs Class of 2005

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College Women's Lacrosse team began preparation for the 2001-02 season with the addition of seven new players. The Eagles look to improve upon a 6-9 (1-5 in the BIG EAST) season in 2000-01. Head coach Shari Krasnoo's squad lost only two players to graduation and there is optimism that the incoming recruits should add much needed depth for this season.
Joining the Eagles for the 2002 campaign are goalkeeper Michelle Lawson (Birmingham, England), defender Bryn Cirillo (Madison, Conn.), midfielders Carley St. Lucia (Delmar, N.Y.) and Jacklyn Yovankin (Medford, N.J.) and attackers Susan Breaznell (Delmar, N.Y.), Courtney Legath (Moorestown, N.J.), and Caitlin Bracken (St. Francis, N.Y.).
Lawson played four seasons as the starting goalkeeper at Westonbirt (England) School and was named captain of the team during her senior year. She was elected to the English Junior National "B" team during her junior year and was selected to the "A" Team during her senior year. Also during her final year of high school, Lawson was selected as a member of the 2001 English Senior National Team. She was a member of Gloucester County team from 1998-2000 and was elected captain all three seasons. A four sport star, Lawson was also named captain of her tennis and swimming teams as a senior.
Cirillo joins the Eagles defense after a standout career at Daniel Hand High School in Madison, Conn. She played three seasons earning All-Conference during her junior and senior years. She was name to the 2nd Team All-State, Super Junior Team, All-New England Team and received recognition in two local publications' All-Area teams as a junior. As a senior, Cirillo was again named 2nd Team All-State and All-Conference and was named to the Connecticut Senior Team.
St. Lucia comes to Boston College after a strong career at Bethlehem Central High School in Delmar, N.Y. She scored 52 goals and added 25 assists as a junior in 2000 and was named to the 1st Team Suburban Council. As a senior captain for Bethlehem, she amassed 65 goals with 45 assists and was named a 2001 All-American as well as Team MVP.
Yovankin, a native of Medford Lakes, N.J., joins the Eagles after a standout career at Shawnee High School. A four year starter, she led Shawnee in scoring both her junior and senior seasons. Her junior season, she scored 26 goals and 60 assists and was named to the 2nd Team All-South Jersey. In her fourth season, she amassed 34 goals and 90 assists and received numerous awards. She was recognized as 1st Team All-New Jersey, 1st Team All-South Jersey, 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Burlington County, as well as being named a 1st Team All-American. A two sport star, she also earned numerous distinctions in field hockey, including being named 1st Team All-Conference and 2nd Team AP All-New Jersey during her junior season.
Bracken comes to Boston College from Paul D. Shreiber High School in Port Washington, N.Y. As a sophomore, she contributed 40 goals and 8 assists and garnered All-Conference honors. As a junior, she led her high school team with 45 goals and was named All-County and the team's MVP. As a senior captain, she scored 75 goals and dished out 4 assists on her way to being named an All-American. She also was recognized as the team's MVP and was named to the Newsday All Star Team.
Breaznell joins St. Lucia as newcomers from Bethlehem Central High School. As a junior at BCHS, she amassed 63 goals and 25 assists. As a result, she was named to the 1st Team All-Suburban Council in addition to being named an All-American. As a senior captain, she scored 68 goals and 36 assists while garnering 1st Team All-Suburban Council and All-American honors. A two sport participant, she also received All-State honors as a junior in varsity soccer.
Legath comes to Boston College after a standout career at Moorestown High School (Moorestown, N.J.). As a junior, she accumulated 71 goals and 60 assists and was named to the 1st Team All-League, All-County, All-South Jersey, and All-State teams. In addition, she garnered honorable mention All-American recognition. As a senior, she was the nations leading scorer with 75 goals and 53 assists and was again named to the 1st Team All-league, All-County, All-South Jersey and All-State teams, while leading Moorestown High to the #1 ranking according to US Lacrosse Magazine and LaxPower.com. In addition, Legath was named to the All-American team as well as being named Player of the Year by The Burlington Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Courier Post, and Newark Star Ledger.
