Field Hockey Takes 4-0 Win Over Vermont

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - The Boston College field hockey team notched a 4-0 win over Vermont Sunday afternoon at Alumni Stadium on the campus of Boston College. The Eagles improve to 1-1 while the Catamounts fall to 1-2. The game closed out the season-opening Boston College Field Hockey Tournament. In Sunday's early match-up, Ohio (2-0) topped Sacred Heart (0-2) by a score of 7-0.
Boston College scored two goals in the first half of play and never looked back. Sophomore midfielder Lauren Schultz (New Milford, CT) netted what would stand as the game winner, finding the back of the net at the 10:33 mark. Freshman Kerri Kulesza (Spencer, MA) connected for her first collegiate goal and gave the Eagles an insurance policy heading into intermission.
In the second half, the Eagles were powered by two goals from junior forward Kim French (Shrewsbury, MA), the first one coming at the 13:58 mark. The final goal of the game was assisted by junior midfielder Virginia Drozd (Richmond, VA).
The Eagles will next travel to Amherst for a 7 p.m. contest against Massachusetts. The team returns to Alumni Stadium Sunday, September 9 for a 1 p.m. game against American.
