COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. - U.S. Field Hockey and women's national team head coach Tracey Belbin have announced that former Eagle goalkeeper Jill Dedman '00 was added to the national team squad after successfully advancing through the team's open trial, June 6-9, at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. She was one of three players chosen from the trials and will join the rest of the 23 members of the national team.
Dedman was a third-team All-America keeper in 1999 and was a three-time all-region selection from BC. In both 1998 and 2000, the BIG EAST coaches selected her as the league's Goalkeeper of the Year. She consistently ranked among the national collegiate leaders in save percentage, saves and goals against average. She capped her storied career at the Heights with 18 shutouts, a 1.39 GAA and .855 save percentage in 63 games over four years.
She will join the rest of the members of the national team in residency in Virginia Beach, Va., where the team will live and train together over the next four years. In preparation for the 2002 World Cup, 2003 Pan American Games, 2004 Olympic Games and other major international events, the squad will continue practicing at Old Dominion while awaiting the completion of its new training facility in Virginia Beach in the fall of 2001.
