
Smith Competes At NCAA Track And Field Championship

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College's fifth year senior Shannon Smith concluded her career on the track and field team when she took 16th place in the 1,500-meter run at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Thursday, May 31, held at the University of Oregon, in Eugene, Ore.
Competing in a field of 21, Smith ran a 4:26.41 to take 16th place in the 1,500-meter run. Winning the race with a time of 4:17.22 was Sally Glynn from Stanford.
Smith concludes her career at Boston College as a three time All-American and the first national champion in women's athletics in school history. On March 10, Smith won the 3,000-meter at the NCAA Indoor Championship with a time of 9:11.25, setting a personal best and a school record.
