Men's Tennis Splits Two BIG EAST Matches

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Boston College men's tennis team picked up a BIG EAST victory at home over Villanova on Saturday, April 7, 6-1, and fell to St. John's on Sunday, April 8, 4-3.
The Eagles won five out of six singles matches and all three doubles matches Saturday morning to claim an important conference victory over Villanova 6-1. Five Eagles won singles matches on Saturday and they were, Freshmen Justin Slattery, Brad Anderson, Paul Colahan, Ross Pytko, and junior Tim Brennan. Also the teams of Slattery and senior Jason Cowett, Anderson and senior Matt Stutz, and Brennan/Colahan won their doubles matches over the Wildcats.
The Eagles lost a close match with St. John's by a score of 4-3. The Eagles again swept the doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The teams of Slattery/Cowett, Anderson/Stutz, and Brennan/Colahan again won their doubles matches, this time against the Red Storm. In singles Anderson and Colahan were the only point scorers as the Eagles came up just short of their second BIG EAST win in as many days.
The Eagles have an overall record of 12-10, 3-2 in the BIG EAST and will next see action against Boston University on Tuesday, April 10 at 3:00p.m. in Chestnut Hill.
