Spears To Join BIG EAST All-Stars This Summer

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The BIG EAST Conference has announced that sophomore forward Adriana Spears (Stratford, Conn.) has been selected as a member of the 2001 BIG EAST Women's Basketball All-Star Team that will compete in a five-game tour of Germany June 10-20. This marks the 12th consecutive year that the BIG EAST Conference is sending a women's basketball all-star squad abroad.
The 14-member squad, comprised of one representative from each BIG EAST school, features three juniors, three sophomores and eight freshmen. Syracuse head coach Marianna Freeman will direct the team.
The all-stars will face the top club teams from the Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich areas. Prior to its departure, the team will attend a pre-tour training camp at Boston College June 8-10.
