Skiing Competes At Nationals

BOGUS BASIN, Idaho - The Boston College women and men's skiing teams competed in the first day to the USCSA National Championship Races in Bogus Basin, Idaho. The women, who competed on Wednesday, March 7, currently sit in fourth place out of 25 after competing in the giant slalom event. The men, who competed yesterday, March 8, are in eighth place out of 20 teams in the giant slalom event.
Leading the women, junior Christina Gush finished in seventh place earning first team All-American honors for the third year in a row. Taking 20th place, Jennifer Runco earned second team All-American honors. In 34th place for the Boston College was freshman Erica Pylman.
Lorena Williams, a sophomore, took 70th place. Also competing for the Eagles was senior Julie Ramsland. The event had 96 competitors.
Winning the event was Auda Curuta from Plymouth State College. Taking first as a team was Sierra Nevada, followed by Plymouth State and Whitman College in third.
In the men's giant slalom event, freshman Seth Therrien finished in 13th place earning All-American second team honors. Taking 29 place was senior Eric Klein. Following in 36th place was freshman David Givliette and sophomore Adam Wexler took 59th. All were competing against 91 participants.
Winning the men's slalom, Martin Kroisleitner won from Sierre Nevada College. In team standings, Sierre Nevada is in first place followed Colby-Sawyer College in second and Plymouth State in third.
The Boston college women's skiing team will return to action on Friday, March 9, in day two of the USCSA National Championship in Bogus Basin, Idaho, the men will compete on Saturday, March 10.
