First Day Of NCAA Fencing Championships Complete

KENOHSA, Wisc. - Boston College freshman Paul Taylor competed in rounds 1-4 of the men's foil competition today at the NCAA Division I Championships. Taylor placed 16th out of 24 foilists with six victories. Following the day's events, Boston College is tied in 17th place out of 24 schools.
Leading all fencers in men's foil after four rounds of competition is St. John's Joseph Fisher. Fisher tallied 13 victories on the day. After four rounds of men's sabre competition, St. John's Keeth Smart leads with 14 victories, while Princeton's Soren Thompson leads the epee field. St. John's presently stands in first place overall with 65 team points.
The final rounds and championships of the men's sabre, foil, and epee competitions will take place on Friday, March 23. The women's events and championships are slated for Saturday and Sunday. Boston College senior Regina Lennox will compete in women's epee on these dates.
