Women's Lacrosse Falls To Holy Cross

WORCHESTER, Mass. - The Boston College women's lacrosse team fell to Holy Cross 11-9 in overtime, today, at the Hart Center AstroTurf Field in Worcester, Mass. Leading the Eagles in scoring for the second game in a row was freshman Rachel Bausch.
Opening the scoring in the game, the Crusader's Justine Reeber scored at 26:11. The Eagles responded with a goal of their own when Lauren Miller scored on a free position shot at 22:19 of the first half. Scoring the first of four goals, Holy Cross's Jen Amendola scored at 12:49. Evening the score, Boston College freshman Meggie O'Neill added the first of her two goals of the game at 5:11. To make the score 4-2 at the half, Reeber scored a second goal at 1:49 and Erin Rowse sent one past Eagle goalie Rachel Zeller at 00:26.
Less than three minutes into the second half Rowse scored again, making the score 5-2. At 24:23, Reeber scored her third goal of the game. Scoring the first of three goals on the day, Bausch scored at 13:37. Adding, what would prove to be the final goal in regulation for the Crusaders, Amendola scored at 12:30.
Down by 7-3 and faced with cold, windy, rainy weather, the Eagles began their come back attempt when Lauren Miller scored from O'Neill at 9:59. Forty-one second later, the Eagle would score again when Rachel Tella scored from an On'Neill pass. Scoring her only goal of the game two minutes later at 7:58 was Emily Ryan, unassisted. At 1:23 remaining in regulation, the Eagles down by one, Bausch scored her second goal of the day, which would soon send the game into overtime.
Scoring the first two goals of the overtime was Holy Cross' Katie Britt and Amendola. But the Eagles answered back when O'Neill scored at 3:13 and Bausch scored at 3:00. With a minute in a half remaining in the extra session, Holy Cross took the lead once more for the final time, when Taylor Connolly scored. Adding an insurance goal for the Crusader was Amendola at 1:17.
In goal for the Eagles, Rachel Zeller played all 66 minutes and saved 14. For Holy Cross, Erin Hartigan stopped 16 in 66 minutes.
The Eagles will next travel to Hofstra on Sat. Mar. 24. Game time is 11:00 am. The next home game for Boston College will be Sun., Mar 25 at Alumni Stadium against Villanova at 2:00 pm.
